Revenue Potential of Quarrying and Sand Mining in Liberia

This study explores the revenue potential of quarrying and sand mining in Liberia, focusing on Montserrado and Margibi counties. It investigates the gap between taxes paid by companies and actual revenue generated during the rainy season. Using field surveys, stakeholder interviews, and revenue estimations, the research assesses mining activities, company operations, and community engagement. Findings reveal a significant disparity between reported taxes and estimated income, underscoring the need for better regulation and data transparency. The study recommends policy reforms, enhanced monitoring, and community-inclusive practices to ensure sustainable exploitation, equitable benefit sharing, and increased revenue generation for national development.
